The vision of NDIS is to give you the freedom and control to live a fulfilling life. It is implemented by an independent statutory agency called the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA). The NDIS aims to directly provide over $22 billion to an estimated 500,000 people living with disability across Australia.
- You receive a certain amount of funding that is based on your day to day needs in the context of your disability.
- Receiving income support like Disability Support Pension and Carers Allowance, does not impact your eligibility to receive NDIS funding in any way.
- The amount of funds you receive is not affected by either your income or capital.
- When an NDIS participants turn 65, they can either continue the scheme or apply to receive support through aged care services.
